Vivian Marie Black Brown

Vivian was born July 10, 1924 in Cabell County, WV to Jacob Samuel Edward Black and Beatrice Wallace Black. She met the love of her life, Robert L. Brown, Sr., at Marshall University. They shared 62 years of wonderful marriage. Vivian worked with Dr. Kenneth Oakley’s Dental Practice for many years. She found a church home at Hillyer Memorial Christian Church where she was an active member.

She was preceded in death by her husband.

Vivian is survived by her son, Robert L. Brown, Jr. and his wife Virginia; daughters, Mary Beth Brown; and Cathy Hewlett and her husband, Ronald Stephens; all of Raleigh; brothers, Charles Black of Georgia and Florida; Jack Black of Indiana; 4 grandchildren, Jacob Todd Hewlett and wife, Michelle; Robert Boyd Hewlett; Mary Beth Burris; and Vivian Drake Brown and fiancé, Dash Robinson; 6 great grandchildren, Katherine; Cade; and Cailyn Hewlett; and Brooks; Sarah and John Duff Burris.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Hillyer Memorial Christian Church, 718 Hillsborough Street, Raleigh, NC 27603. The family will receive friends 12:30 – 2:00 pm prior to the service at the church.
