Eventhough I was not able to attend the service, you were in my prayers. It is wonderful to know that Mr Dixon is with the Lord and his work on earth was not in vain. I pray for peace beyond understanding in the days, weeks, years to come. Love Susan Bissette

Aunt Evelyn and my dear cousins ~  It was an honor to sing at Uncle Walter's service.  You could not have chosen a more fitting song to be sung.  Having known Uncle Walter all of my life I know that he would have been so touched to know that "I'd Rather Have Jesus" was sung.  He was such an inspiration to all of us!  I can remember when your family came to visit us in Newport News and at bedtime Uncle Walter called us all together to have family devotions.  I loved it and knew that your family had something "special" that all families don't have.  I love you all and will continue praying for you.

Milton, Faye, Diane and Mrs. Dixon,
   Doug and I were so sorry we were not able to come to the funeral today. You all have been in our prayers since we heard from Faye last week. 
   Mr. Dixon was always the sweetest person.  I envied Milton for having such a loving family.  We will always remember him fondly.

Milton, Faye and family,
I received a Enloe Classmate email about Walter. It has been so long since I had seen Walter, and you guys, at Raleigh 1st Assembly. May God be near you during this time of sorrow yet rejoicing at the passing of another saint to the arms of Christ. We are in Phoenix, Arizona now and have been since 2000. Amazingly when I saw Walters name I remembered instantly everyone, cant remember what I did yesterday but......... Blessings to all. Tony Gray

Evelyn I was so saddened to hear of Walter's death today!  Larry and I thought so much of him.  Walter was one of the reasons I decided to start coming to First Assembly!  Walter's love and faith was so evident, and I wanted to go where that love was.  Our thoughts and prayers will be with you tomorrow and in the future.  We love you.

Dear Aunt Evelyn and cousins, I'll always remember the many summers I spent with you when I was growing up.  Uncle Walter had great love for his family and his God, and he also had a heart of gold.  You are all in my thoughts, and I pray that your memories will help ease the pain of your loss.  With love always, Wanda

Mr Dixon and son worked for the USPO and visits with his father were always discussions about their work and friends.  This was such a bond for the two of them. Mr Dixon worked in a grocery store in downtown Raleigh.  His "boss" was a friend of my family and his "boss" told me that Walter was one of the best employees he could ever have. He was always dependable, honest, and the customers always liked being helped by Mr. Dixon. His faith will be remembered by people he knew and many who learned watching him and he did not know. He is missed now and will be missed for time to come. He and Ricky are together in heaven rejoicing.

Evelyn & family, I am saddened by the loss of your husband/father...I shall always remember him as quiet, soft spoken, and a most religious man. My memories go back to when I was very young and spending lots of time in your home. Those days shall always be cherished, as my memories of Mr. Dixon. I will keep you close in prayer. Blessings.

Milton:  I am so sorry to read this morning that you have lost your father.  I know how that feels.  May all of your sweet memories comfort you.

Uncle Walter was a quiet man, but one that was profound in his love for Jesus. I recall many times our family visiting their home and Uncle Walter always made us feel  "at Home". His love for his God, his family will always be a true legacy. He may have been born a "Dixon", but Grandpa West converted him to being a "West" in sharing his love and affection to everone. He is now resting with his God whom he loved dearly. Aunt Evelyn and family  had a great person in their lives for many years.

Uncle Walter was one of the finest Christian Men,I've ever known.As a child growing up,when I visited in their home,he always read the Bible and had prayer before we went to bed..Sometimes we didn't want to stop playing for that,but now I realizes he was instilling something good in my life..I will always love you Uncle Walter..Your niece, Shirley West Sizemore
