

Walter Stuart died November 23, 2014. He was born in High Point, NC to Thelma A. and Walter G. Stuart, Sr. They moved to Raleigh when he was about two years old. Walter attended Myrtle Underwood Elementary School, Needham Broughton High School, and N. C. State before being drafted to the Air Force during WWII. He attended UNC-CH after the war then began his 28 year career with Hudson Belk, retiring in 1977.
He was predeceased by his parents, wife of 66 years Mable, son Walt III, sister-in-law and her husband Margaret and Dallas Burroughs. He is survived by his daughter, Patricia “Pat” Stuart of Raleigh, sister-in-law and her husband, Ruth and Charles Campbell of NY and nieces and nephews.
Walter and Mable lived in Raleigh over 50 years. They then moved to Emerald Isle for several years, then moved to Fuquay Varina for 20 years, returning to Raleigh in 2012 living at Abbotswood at Stonehenge. He then moved to The Oaks at Mayview in August, 2014.
A special “thank you, thank you, thank you” to the staff at The Oaks at Mayview for their outstanding care during his last few months. Pat would also like to thank Dr. James Parsons and his staff for many years of wonderful care and concern for the whole family.
Graveside services will be held at Montlawn Memorial Park Friday, November 28th at 1:00 with visitation prior to the service from 12:00 to 1:00.
