

Born on February 6, 1966, in Waukegan, IL, Bill was the beloved son of Mark Kenneth Gant and the late Cheryl Brown Gant. Bill is survived by his wife, Amy Gant, Bill’s two daughters, Alyxandra Gant and Jessica Gant, who were the lights of his life. He also leaves behind his father, Mark K. Gant; his twin sister, Nancy Gant Gimble; his brother, Mark William Gant; his brother-in-law, Jack Gimble; his brother-in-law, Mark T. Laport; and his parents-in-law; Vicki and Mark Laport.
A graduate of Mercy College, Bill earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. Although he initially aspired to a career in law enforcement, a twist of fate led him to discover his true calling in the hospitality industry—a field in which he thrived for over 25 years.
As a 22-year veteran of Raleigh-based Concord Hospitality, Bill rose to the position of Regional Vice President, where he was known as a respected leader and a cherished friend. His dedication, expertise, and work ethic earned him accolades throughout his career. Notably, Bill was the opening General Manager of the award-winning Renaissance Raleigh North Hills, where he received numerous honors, including Concord Hospitality Hotel of the Year in 2009 and 2010, Full-Service Hotel of the Year from Marriott International in 2010, and the prestigious AAA Four Diamond award in 2011.
Bill’s commitment to his community was evident in his service on various boards and organizations, including the Executive Board of Directors for the Greater Raleigh Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Board of Advisors for the North Carolina Restaurant and Lodging Association lodging issues council, the Board of Advisors for the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce, the Wake County Hospitality Alliance, and the Raleigh Midtown Alliance.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Bill was a man of integrity and loyalty. His family, especially his daughters, were the center of his world. He was known for his selflessness, his unwavering support of those around him, and a sense of humor that brought laughter to everyone he met.
Bill had a passion for his Harley motorcycles and enjoyed “knees in the breeze” with The Brothers Gant Club. He was also a volunteer for a local animal rescue, reflecting his compassionate and caring nature.
Bill's unforgettable smile, his generosity of spirit, and his presence will be deeply missed. His legacy of kindness and love will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and colleagues.

A Memorial Service for Bill was held on Sunday, August 25, 2024, at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home.
