Bill Joe Groves

Bill was born in Widen, W.VA. to Joseph and Gladys (Griffith) Groves.

Bill was deacon of the former Yale Baptist Church. He later joined New Milford Freewill Baptist Church. He retired from the United Rubber Workers. He also was the owner and promoter of Canton Motor Speedway in Waco, Ohio. He loved going to NASCAR races.

He is survived by his daughters: Jennifer Robinson and Andra (Jack) Robinson. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Joshua (Kristin) Robinson, Ashley (Brandon) Swad, and Erika (James) Walsh. Surviving also are his great-grandchildren: Holden Robinson, Hunter Robinson, Dominic Robinson, Chloe Swad, Valentina Walsh, and Kayla Marie Walsh.

He also leaves his brothers: Elmer (Delores) Groves, Clifton (Mary) Groves, and many nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 57 years, Thelma (Ramsay), his brother, Wallace Groves and his sister, Virginia Gregory.

Family will receive visitors on Tuesday, January 4, from 6:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St. Ravenna, where funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow at Atwater Cemetery.
