Dortha Marie Parsons Turner

She was born August 26, 1936, in Milo, West Virginia, to the late Letcher and Mary Jane (Price) Parsons. On December 14, 1953, she married William C. Turner. She worked at Oak Rubber until moving to Salisbury, Maryland, where she worked for Sealy Furniture until retiring in 2000. After retirement, Dortha and William moved back to Ravenna, Ohio, to be closer to family. Even in her retirement, Dortha continued to work at East Main Laundry.

Dortha loved God, family, and church. She was an active member of Bethel Baptist Church in Ravenna. Dortha was a very loving and kind person, who was known for her sense of humor, and loved family gatherings.

Surviving family members include her husband of 63 years William C. Turner Sr. of Ravenna; her children: Linda L. Drass of Ravenna, Pastor William C. (Melanie) Turner Jr. of Lima; grandchildren: Brian (Meghan) Drass of Streetsboro, Christina (Wade Jr.) Hillis of Rootstown, Amber (Klint) Hull of Lima, Asst. Pastor William C. (Taylor) Turner III of Ravenna; as well as her great-grandchildren: Sydnie and Wade III Hillis of Rootstown, Hannah, Kolton, and Weston Hull of Lima, William C. IV and Preston Turner of Ravenna.

Dortha was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and seven sisters.

Friends and family will be received Tuesday, January 3, 2017, from 12:00 – 1:00 PM at the Bethel Baptist Church, 745 N Freedom St, Ravenna, with funeral services officiated by Pastor William C. Turner Jr., Pastor William C. Turner III, and Pastor David Ballert at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
