Durena June Shope Pol

She was born June 24, 1927, in Charlestown, Ohio, to parents Frank and Abblena Shope. Durena was an active member of the Atwater United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Atwater Firettes, the Red Hat Society, and a swim member of the YMCA in Alliance. Durena always enjoyed traveling and dining with her “Four Amigos”, Holly Saxe, Laura Aylward, Pam Barber, and Judy Scott. Durena and her husband enriched the lives of many friends and family at Pol’s Acres Campground, and she cherished the memories of all of the family events held there.

Survivors include her children: Claudia (Ronald) Knapp of Salem, Jennifer (Charles) Garey of Alliance, Wade (Chris) Pol of Palmyra, and Brent (Kim) Pol of Atwater, her grandchildren: Heather (Michael) Gerst, Brianna Pol, Austin Pol, Wayne Pol, and Travis Pol, as well as her loving great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Durena was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Pol, her parents, her sisters: Duretta, Daisy, Darlene, and Daphine, her brothers: Durwood, Donald, and Duane.

Friends will be received Tuesday, December 2, 2014 from 11:30 AM until the 1:00 PM funeral service at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna. Interment will follow at Atwater Cemetery.
