Hedy Head

Hedy was born Hedwig Schaad on July 1, 1930, in Switzerland, to parents Ernst and Marie (Keller) Schaad. Hedy met her future husband, Frank, while he was serving as an embassy guard at the US Embassy in Bern, Switzerland.

She moved to the United States and married Frank Head on March 21, 1964. They were residents of Ravenna for over 50 years, before moving to the Akron area to be closer to their children.

Hedy was a talented seamstress and also enjoyed knitting. She loved to travel, read, and cook. She also enjoyed gardening. Above all, she cherished her time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Hedy is survived by her daughters: Edna (Pat) Boyle, Christine Head and Elisa (Arthur) Hill. She also leaves her beloved grandchildren Christopher, Patrick, Ciannah, Maaliyah, Alana, Brandon, Aidan and her great-granddaughter Lilyanna Nova. Hedy will also be sadly missed by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Hedy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Frank Head, and her siblings: Elisabeth Ryf, Rosa Sahli, Marianne Tschudin, Urs Schaad, and Ueli Schaad.

Friends and family will be received Wednesday, January 24, 2024, from 10 – 11 AM with funeral service following at 11:00 AM at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna. Interment will take place at 1:45 PM on Wednesday at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, Ohio.
