

Daughter of Rose and George Reinhardt. Preceded in death by her parents and brothers Wolfgang Reinhardt and Horst Reinhardt.
The blonde German girl with the warm smile studied at Heidelberg University. She enjoyed playing tennis, skiing, handball and was a roller-skating champion while at the university. Inge immigrated to the United States after World War II on December 18, 1947 and was the first German war bride after receiving permission from General Eisenhower. Married to Earl W. Armstrong on December 24, 1947 in Akron, Ohio. They met in the American Hospital in Rohrbach, Germany in 1945 where she was working as an English interpreter and he was a wounded American soldier. They have been happily married for 67 years and always enjoyed celebrating their Christmas Eve anniversary with friends and family after attending the First United Methodist Church service.
Inge worked in travel industry most of her life, first at Bixler Tours as a travel agent, then at Portage Travel in Ravenna and later was the proud owner of Armstrong Travel Agency in Ravenna. Inge loved to travel the world and planned and conducted tours for many of her loyal clients. She had a cheerful disposition and a zest for travel and exploring the world.
She loved the outdoors, especially sunny days, German wine, keeping up to date on current events and sports and was especially passionate about Wimbledon. “Oma”, as she was called, was an avid fan of her children’s and grandchildren’s involvement in sports and a proud and vocal spectator in the stands.
Inge is survived by her husband of 67 years, Earl W. Armstrong. Surviving also is her son Roland Armstrong (Patricia Hawkins) of Ravenna, daughter Becky Armstrong Treat (Robert) of Evergreen, CO and daughter-in law Georgene Shepard Armstrong of Hiram. Left also to cherish her memory are her grandchildren: Nicole (Derek) Armstrong Lohr, Lauren (Jon) Armstrong Pepere, Christian Treat and three great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna on Friday, May 1, 2015 from 5:00PM until 7:00pm where funeral services, officiated by Rev. Stephen Sparling, will be held at 11:00AM. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
