Jack "Jay" A. Wood Jr.

He was born January 12, 1950, in Ravenna, Ohio, to parents Jane (McFadden) and Jack A. Wood Sr. Jay graduated from Ravenna High School in 1968 and later from Kent State University. Then he began his career as a computer programmer, becoming an integral part of Visi-Trak.

Jay loved the outdoors and nature was his true religion. He enjoyed going for hikes out west, riding his bike all across Portage County and spending time with his family and friends at his adored Muzzy Lake.

Jay is survived by his beloved wife Dianne (Zielaskiewicz) Wood, whom he married August 15, 1971. Also surviving are his children: Jason (Angela) Wood of Columbus, Ohio and Jack (Amanda Maxine) Wood III of Rootstown, his grandchildren: Jack Wood IV, Hazel Rose Wood, and Iris (Ethan) Wilson, as well as his siblings: Linda (Don) Gepper of Milford, MI and Robert A. Wood II of Kent, his step-siblings: Robert "Digger" (Terry Wilson) Kortright & David (Josefa Saenz) Kortright both of Goodyear, AZ, along with generations of loving nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Jay was preceded in death by his father and step-mother Jack and Ruth Wood Sr., his mother and step-father Jane and Herman Tudor.

His wishes for cremation are being honored. A Celebration of Life will take place Friday, October 8, 2021, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna – which was founded by Jay’s great-grandparents and operated by his grandparents and parents for many decades.
