Janet L. Veon, age 82, of Rootstown, Ohio, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on January 10, 2026. Born on June 15, 1943, in Somerset, Pennsylvania, Janet lived a life filled with faith, family, and love.
She was married to her devoted husband, Lee Veon, for 60 wonderful years until his passing. Together they raised four children: Shelly Hamilton (Mark), Christine Veon (deceased), Rodney Veon (Karen), and Neal Veon (Olympia). Janet was deeply proud of her family and was lovingly known as “Grandma” to her seven grandsons and twelve great‑grandchildren. Janet was one of nine siblings and is survived by her one remaining living sibling, Carl Beck (Carol).
Janet’s faith was the foundation of her life. She loved Jesus, spent time each day reading her Bible, and faithfully wrote prayers and reflections in her journals. As a longtime member of Rootstown Methodist Church for nearly 40 years, she cherished her church family and the fellowship she found there.
For many years, Janet served the Rootstown School System as a school bus driver. She dearly loved the children she transported each day—and they loved her in return. Her warm smile, gentle care, and joyful spirit were a comfort to countless families over the years.
Janet had a caring and selfless heart. She offered kindness even when others were difficult or going through struggles of their own. With patience, grace, and compassion, she met people exactly where they were. She lived with a true servant’s attitude—always willing to help, to listen, and to give of herself without expecting anything in return. Her gentle strength and humble nature were a reflection of Christ-like love in action.
Janet spent her later years at the Hines Hill Senior Living Center, where she was lovingly cared for by staff who quickly grew attached to her. Their kindness, compassion, and genuine affection for Janet were a blessing to her and to the family, and many of them fell in love with her gentle spirit, humor, and warmth.
Janet also had a creative and nurturing spirit. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, baking, caring for her cats, and filling her home with laughter. She loved to joke around, had a wonderful sense of humor, and her laughter was truly contagious, touching everyone who had the joy of being around her.
Janet will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her kindness, her laughter, and the deep love she carried for her family and community. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched.
Friends and family will be received Saturday, January 17, 2026, from 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM with a funeral service officiated by her grandson Pastor Nick Veon at 1:00 PM at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna. A time of fellowship and light luncheon will follow.
