Joe was born to the late Judge Joseph Kainrad and Judith Kainrad on March, 10, 1966. He lived much of his life on his family’s farm in Wayland, Ohio. He graduated from Southeast High School in 1984. He attended Kent State University where he discovered his passion for flying. He received flight training from American Flyers and worked for the company as a flight instructor. During this time he convinced the love of his life, Lisa, to go out on a date with him. They married on May 2, 1992.
After working for many airlines, Joe accepted a job to work as a pilot for Flight Options. He rose to the ranks as Chief Pilot. He enjoyed working with and guiding his fellow pilots.
While his passion was flying, his love was always with his family. He was a kind and patient father to Morgan and Joey. He loved them with all his heart and enjoyed attending their many school and athletic functions. He was proud of all of his children’s achievements. He adored his wife Lisa who completely understood his sense of humor. Joe also loved his dogs Mason, Jack, and Henry who never left his side over the past two years.
In the fall of 2014, Joe was diagnosed with cancer. While a cure could not be found, Joe was grateful for every day he got to spend with Lisa who has been by his side giving him love and support.
Preceded in death by his parents he is survived by wife Lisa, daughter Morgan (fiance Derek), son Joseph, brother Chris (Andrea) Kainrad, sister Monica Kainrad, mother and father-in-law Dora and Joe Quattrocchi, sister-in-laws Rose (Rick) Bochert, JoAnn (Dave) Hetrick, Anna (Rick) Pease, dogs Mason, Jack, and Henry, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to thank the employees of Flight Options who have supported Joe in his battle over the past two years. From lawn work to raising money you did it all as we looked for a miracle. Thank you for your support as you made a difficult diagnosis bearable.
Also thank you to Tom, Glen, and Jeannette for being there every step of the way.
Joe’s life may not have been as long as any of us would have liked, but it was one well lived pursuing his dreams and goals. We know you will be looking down on us always.
A memorial service will be celebrated by Pastor Tim McAdams on Thursday, May 5, 2016, at 6:00 PM at the Leavittsburg Church of God, 610 S. Leavitt Rd., Leavittsburg, OH 44430. Friends will be received Thursday from 5:00 – 6:00 PM at the church. Private burial will take place at Hawley Cemetery.
