He was born April 20, 1944, in Ravenna, Ohio, to parents Earl Donald and Mary Mae (Coy) Crooks. Lee graduated from Hiram High School and then proudly served in the US Air Force where he was stationed for over a year in the Philippines and also worked on planes including Seaplanes. He later worked for the Hattie Larlham Foundation and for over 15 years with the Goodyear Blimp, traveling as part of the crew all over the world.
Lee was an eccentric person. He was an avid reader and enjoyed collecting books and antiques. Lee frequented the Hartville Flea Market, and traveled extensively across Europe. He studied and spoke some Latin, German and the Philippine language.
Lee is survived by his sister Dolores “Dee” Andexler, as well as generations of loving nieces and nephews.
Lee was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings: Lolita Dillie, Lyndon Crooks, Ramona Berger, Rosita White, Juanita Bucklew, and Richard Crooks.
His wishes for cremation are being honored. Graveside services will take place on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at 1:15 PM at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd, Seville, 44273, with full military honors.
