Lyle was born February 20th, 1919 and was active in school sports and passed his love of sports and the outdoors on to his children. He served in the U.S. Navy as chief mechanic for a “Lighter Then Air” dirigible (Blimp) during WWII and was stationed in South America. Shortly following his service he met a nurse named Mary Deetz who became the love of his life and his wife. He and Mary raised four children in Rootstown, Ohio. “Curly” worked 31 years for Renner Motor Lines and retired 29 years ago. His love for the outdoors found him leading his family on annual canoe trips to Upper Canada, where fishing and camping became family favorites. In his later years, “Curly” focused on playing golf with family and friends until his death.
Lyle is survived by his children; Dennis (Helen) Hendershot of Crossingville, PA., Barb (Bruce) Harris of Aurora, Oh. and Pam Hendershot of Mebane, N.C. Also surviving are his grandchildren; Elizabeth (Noah) Bushelli, Nicholas Hendershot, Matt Harris, Megan (Frank) Lin, David Hendershot, Brent Harris, and Laura Hendershot.
