She is survived by her son, John Wetshtein; her beloved fur baby, Jessie; her niece, Kaitlyn Wetshtein; and her siblings, John Wetshtein (Carolyn) and William Wetshtein (Cheri).
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Rosemary Wetshtein.
Rebecca will be remembered for her creative personality, her love for unique adventures, and the care she freely showed to others. She also had a strong love for all animals, a value reflected in the companionship she shared with Jessie and the kindness she extended to animals throughout her life.
She had a special way of bringing people together - whether through the creative meals she cooked, the listening ear she offered, or the crafty ideas she shared. Being remembered for her creativity, she made a lasting impact by taking her kids on adventures they would never forget, cooking meals they would remake and cherish, and showing deep care for those she loved.
From singing at garage sales to “make the rain gods go away,” to creating silly birthday singing videos, she had a gift for turning small moments into meaningful traditions that reflected how deeply she loved. Always willing to listen and offer support, even when answers were unclear, her care was constant, genuine, and given freely without judgment.
The memories she created and the comfort she gave will live on in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her.
To honor her wishes, no services will be held. Those who wish to honor Rebecca’s memory are invited to donate to the Portage County Animal Protective League.
