Ed was born in Frankin Township on September 18, 1933, to parents Richard S. and Gertrude E. (Belch) Clapp. He graduated from Kent Roosevelt High School, then proceeded to earn his undergraduate degree from Kent State University and from there, attended The Ohio State University, attaining his pharmacy degree. After returning home he began a long, enjoyable career at Robinson Memorial Hospital, first as a pharmacist, then moving into purchasing and ultimately becoming CEO.
Ed was a member of both the Ravenna United Methodist Church and Kent United Methodist Church and enjoyed his involvement with the Rotary Club and attaining Paul Harris Fellow. Ed loved traveling with his wife, Pat, and they especially enjoyed visits to Disney World during the many years they lived in Florida. Ed had an incredible thirst for knowledge, and as such, was an avid reader. He had an astute financial mind and successfully managed his own investments. Ed loved his family and loved his cats.
Ed is survived by his wife of 48 years, Patricia, daughter LuAnne (Ed) Stockton and stepchildren Barbara (Allen) Waddle, Robert (Mary Beth) DiPaola, and James (Doris) DiPaola.
