
He was born October 22, 1952, in Akron, Ohio, to parents Robert John and Dolores (Messmore) Gombeda. Bob was Catholic by faith and a member of Immaculate Conception Parish. Bob studied computer science at Kent State Univeristy and had a long career in IT. He was an instructor for the NE Ohio PMP Certification study group. He retired from Progressive Insurance in Mayfield Village in the IT department.
Bob loved sports, music, and watching movies. He was active in his kid’s sporting events as they grew up. He coached for the Ravenna Rams football and Hot Stove baseball teams. Bob was also a huge Cleveland Browns and OSU football fan. He will be remembered for his laid back personality. Bob had a quick wit, an easy laugh, and a generous heart.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife Linda Colpo Gombeda, who he married November 4, 1972, as well as his son Bob Gombeda III, daughter Megan (Clint) Marsh, grandchildren: Grace and Bobby Gombeda, Ava, Aria, and Alayna Marsh, his sister Janet (Ken) Morris, and his brother Tom Gombeda. Also surviving are his sisters-in-law Shirley Colpo and Carol Colpo, many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his son Michael Gombeda, his daughter-in-law Tracy Gombeda, and his siblings Jim and Kathy Gombeda.
His wishes for cremation are being honored with no services planned.
