Sandra, lovingly known as Sandy, was preceded in death by her parents, Ethel and Glenn Benshoff of Ravenna.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 27 years, Edward Kunar; her brother, Melvin Benshoff; stepchildren, Karen Linton (Michael), Scott Kunar (Elizabeth), Patti Krupinski (David) and Mark Kunar (Mindy); ten step-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; and numerous beloved cousins and friends.
Sandy was raised in Ravenna and graduated from Ravenna High School in 1964. She dedicated many years of service to Gougler Industries, where she worked as an administrative assistant in the Human Resources Department. Family was at the heart of Sandy’s life. She was known for remembering every birthday with a thoughtfully chosen card each year. Sandy and Ed enjoyed wintering together in Panama City, Florida, and shared many memorable trips to places such as the Pocono Mountains, Tennessee, Niagara Falls as well as a special journey out West that included the Grand Canyon. In their sixties, Sandra and Ed proudly built their home together from the ground up on Lovers Lane in Ravenna, a true testament to their partnership and determination.
Sandy spoke often and fondly of her friends at the Atrium in Aurora, where she treasured the time they spent together. She had a remarkable gift for remembering everyone’s name, a reflection of her warmth and genuine care for others. Sandy was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.
A celebration of Sandy’s life will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna. Calling hours will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service, officiated by Pastor Gary Beck, at 12:00 p.m. Inurnment at Maple Grove Cemetery will take place at a later date.
Ed and Sandy shared a lifelong commitment to giving back, supporting a different charity each year. In honoring that tradition and in lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Sandy’s name.
