
He is survived by his wife Dr. Wilma Jean Schindler-Sharish, his daughters Melanie Sharish and Laura (Thomas) White both of Kent, Mollie (Jeff) Burns of Aurora, Courtney Johnson of Knoxville, TN, his sons Randall of Kent and Stephen of Ravenna. He shall be missed by his grandchildren Michael Sharish, Maranda Opie, Byron Warfield, Candace Hoffmann, Emily Burns, Sarah Warfield, as well as his beloved sister Patty (Bob) Lanahan of Atlanta, GA, and his many loving great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and daughter Sally Sue Sharish.
Tom was a lifelong learner. He received a B.S. degree from Youngstown State, a Masters of Education Administration from Kent State University, and had completed coursework for Doctorate of Education at the University of Tennessee. During his time there, he became an avid Tennessee sports fan.
He was a popular teacher at the Streetsboro Elementary and Secondary Schools. Tom retired from Twinsburg Schools where he taught and was an assistant principal. He later taught in Tennessee, in public and private schools, as well as Career Com College. Tom also worked in the Reading Laboratory at the University of Tennessee.
Graveside services will be officiated by Reverend Wendy Schindler-Chasney at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 2, 2011, at Crown Hill Cemetery in Twinsburg. A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, December 9, 2011, at 11:00 AM at the Suffield United Church of Christ.
