Wilbur Raymond Michael

He was born September 11, 1934, in Randolph, Ohio, to parents Charles and Anna (Caldwell) Michael. Wilbur graduated from Southeast High School in 1952 and has enjoyed going to many class reunions. Wilbur worked for several area companies, starting with Rockwell Industries in the early 60’s, then to Terex and Viking Resources, and finally retiring from Atlas Energy in 1999.

Wilbur proudly served his country as a member of the US Army. He enjoyed playing cards and going to casinos to play the slots. Wilbur looked forward to stirring apple butter every year for the Deerfield Apple Butter Festival. In his younger years, Wilbur enjoyed bowling.

On April 6, 1962, he married his beloved Betty “Jackie” (Bolen) Michael, and they celebrated nearly 60 years of marriage. Wilbur is survived by Betty and their children: Bridgette Michael, Deidra Binegar, Tim Michael, and Tawnya Michael; his grandchildren: Keith (Melissa) Johnson, Crystal (Josh) Jolley, Brian (Jamie) Binegar, Samantha Binegar, Brittny Miller, Nathan Michael, and Savannah (Zack) Brady, as well as his great-grandchildren: Jackson, Ava, Trinity, Cole, Gattlin, Gabe, Alessa, Oliva, and another great-grandson expected soon. He is also survived by his sister Doris Hershberger along with many loving nieces and nephews.

Wilbur was preceded in death by his parents, his grandson Josh Johnson, his brothers Robert, Howard, Charles, Henry, and James Michael, his sisters Helen Reagan and Ruth Leibforth.

Friends and family will be received Saturday, February 12, 2022, from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM with a funeral officiated by Pastor John Burton at 12:00 PM at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna. Interment will follow at Grandview Memorial Park with military honors provided by the US Army and VFW Post 1055 Honor Guards.
