

Bill graduated from Central Hower High School and later attended the University of Akron, where he was a basketball player. He then went on to proudly serve his country as a veteran of the US Army.
Bill was also an active member of the Atwater community and named Grand Marshal for the 2017 parade. He was a member of the Atwater Volunteer Fire Department for over 23 years. Bill retired as a bus mechanic with Waterloo Schools in 1999. Bill attended the Atwater United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir.
Bill loved music and singing. He was a talented drummer with his family’s band, the Shamrocks, playing country western music throughout the area. Bill also liked to play cards, especially poker, euchre, spades, and was a part of his wife’s bridge club. He loved the outdoors and could often be found fishing or golfing. Bill looked forward to camping with his family at Friendship Acres and Whispering Pines, along with several other spots across the country.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife, JoAnn (Scott) Minier, who he married November 4, 1960 in Stow. He is also survived by his children: William R. (Kimberly) Minier, James Minier, Scott (Priscilla) Minier, and Mike Minier, his grandchildren: Rachel, Jessica, Jarrid, Jordan, Joshua, Spencer, and Samantha, as well as his great-grandchildren: Nathan, Nolan, Addilyn, and Maddox.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings: Peggy, Betty,and Bud.
Friends and family will be received Monday, September 22, 2025, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home in Ravenna, where funeral services will be officiated by Reverend Tina Gallaher on Tuesday at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Atwater Cemetery.
