

Sister Patricia Sammons (formerly Sister Daniel Dolores), a Sister of Notre Dame de Namur, died on April 30, 2014, at the age of 79 in the 60th year of her religious life. Sister Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel Thomas Sammons and Inez Lillian (Brown) Sammons, and her sister Karen. Her passing is mourned by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, by her sisters Sister Marie Karen Sammons, SC, Dolores (Dee) Sammons, her brothers, James (Ned), Thomas, and Michael Sammons and many nieces and nephews.
Sr. Pat was born in Dayton, Ohio and educated by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur at Holy Angels School and Julienne High School in Dayton. She entered the Sisters of Notre Dame in September, 1954.
After her religious profession, Sister taught at St. Michael School in Sharonville, Cardinal Pacelli, St. Augustine and Corryville Catholic Schools in Cincinnati, St. Agnes School in Dayton, and St. Peter Canisius School in Chicago and St. Victor School in Calumet City, IL.
Continuing her ministries, Sr. Pat was the Director of Food Services at Mount Notre Dame, Reading, Ohio for 16 years, and then re-entered the educational field as Director of the Alliance for Work Based Education at the University of Dayton, and as the Library Partner and Liaison for the Moeller Little Buddies Program at Corryville Catholic School, Cincinnati, Ohio.
Throughout her life Sr. Pat was an ardent sports enthusiast and loved being in the outdoors with fishing being her top choice of recreational activity. She maintained loving relationships with all her family members, was deeply appreciative of her co-workers in her various ministries, and the sisters with whom she lived and worked, with special affection for her longtime friend, Sr. Ruth Ellen Evers and Ruth’s family. Sr. Pat often expressed her gratitude for the attention of the nursing staff at Mt. Notre Dame.
The visitation will take place on Monday, May 5, 2014 from 1:30-2:45 at Mount Notre Dame Health Center, 699 E. Columbia Avenue, Cincinnati (513-821-7448), followed by the Mass of Christian burial and interment. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Retirement Fund of the Sisters of Notre Dame, 701 E. Columbia Avenue, Cincinnati OH, 45215.
