

Before he retired, Anthony worked as a sales promotional representative for the Crosse and Blackwell Gourmet Food Co. and the Phillies Cigar Co., covering the North Eastern area of Pennsylvania.
He graduated from Reading Evening High School in June 1935, majoring in Business Administration. He was a former member of the United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Pioneer Neighborhood Council of South Reading P.N.C.
He was active in arranging the improvement of children’s playgrounds as well as arranging the addition of two more playgrounds and improving traffic conditions in the South Penn St. Area P.N.C. with the sponsorship of the Junior League of Berks County.
In his younger days, Anthony was active in sports, especially baseball and bowling. He bowled in the Berks Church League for 16 years.
Anthony is survived by his loving companion, Carole A. Wolfe, his sister, Tillie Garbini, and a number of nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his son, Vincent A. Zaffiro, who died as a result of a motorcycle accident in June of 1996 and siblings: Mary, Samuel, Joseph, Rose, Josephine, Thomas and two infant brothers.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, November 8, 2012 at the chapel in Charles Evans Cemetery, 1119 Centre Avenue, Reading followed by burial in the cemetery. Theo C. Auman Funeral Home, 247 Penn St., Reading is entrusted with the arrangements.
