

Born in Bernville on December 20, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Clayton and Annie (Rupp) Sonnen.
Arlene loved to spend time with her large family and enjoyed bingo and crocheting. One of Arlene’s guilty pleasures was watching wrestling. While raising her family, she took employment with Victor Emmanuel’s as a waitress and at Grafika, a commercial printing company.
Arlene was a member of Alsace Lutheran church in Muhlenberg and later, with Holy Spirit Lutheran Church in Reading.
Surviving Arlene are six daughters, Gloria Kroenig and her husband, Bryan, Sr. of Reading, Melba Delp of Reading, Donna Hiester and her husband, Raymond of Laureldale, Shirley Lingeris of Reading, Marie Spencer and her husband, Chris of Mohrsville and Dorothy Lukanitz and her companion, Patricia Layton of Shilllington; one son, Ricky Remp and his wife, Sandra of Reading; 13 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren and a sister, Delores Nitzgen of FL.
She is predeceased by her first husband, Leon Walmer (1947); her second husband, Melvin Remp (1959); common law husband, James King (1966); two sons, Ronald M. and Robert l. Remp; one great great grandchild and two sisters, Leona Adams and Betty Hallman.
A memorial service will be held for Arlene at noon on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 in Theo C. Auman Funeral Home, 247 Penn St., Reading. A visitation will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday from 11 to noon.
