Barbara was born in 1924 in Cleveland, Ohio, only daughter of Stanley and Laurene Hoffman. Stanley Hoffman owned and operated Hoffman's Restaurant and ice cream/candy parlors in Cleveland.
Barbara married William Theobald in 1946 and had three children: Bill, Deborah and Stanley. Later, Barbara married Raymond Critzer and had two more children, Kenneth and Constance.
She stood out in the '50s, '60s and '70s as a working woman, selling real estate throughout Cleveland and Florida.
She was an avid tennis and golf player, and enjoyed playing bridge. She also loved speaking her mind, maintaining her seemingly endless youthfulness, and caring for her grandchildren-sometimes for entire summers.
After her first grandchild was born, she became known as Gaga to all 12 grandchildren.
In 1975, she met and married Steve Soos, who became the beloved Pop Pop to the grandchildren.
Barb later moved to Lancaster to be near her daughter, Connie and her family. She lived in the area for 18 years. She worked at Harry & David's for a time, following in her dad's footsteps in the candy business.
Barbara is survived by her five children: William (wife, Masaco), Deborah (husband, Carroll), Stanley (wife, Kate), Kenneth (wife, Lisa) Connie (husband, Frank) and her grandchildren: Cadie, Jamie, Kendall, Cameron, Kylie, Makenzie, Meghan, Ryan, Aaron Remmy, Eric and Elizabeth. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren: March, Brookes, Hartwin and Evelyn Rose.
Barbara lived a blessed life and we will all have loving memories to forever hold in our hearts. May God Bless and love her forever.
Family and friends will be celebrating her life at a small private memorial service.
Arrangements entrusted with Theo C. Auman Funeral Home, Reading.
