

He was surrounded by many loved ones in and out of his room. He was the loving husband of Tanya (Hammond) Kama of 25 years, in which they had a vow renewal of 25 years.
Born in Queens, New York, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Alberta (Tate) Kama.
Ben was educated in the Reading Public School System and a graduate of Reading High School. Benjamin was employed by Community Education Center, formerly known as Adappt, Inc., as a group home Supervisor. He was employed there for 19 years prior to retirement. He was known for implementing clean-up crews throughout the city with his residents. He was loved and respected by many.
Benjamin's all-time favorite hobby was fishing. He was a diehard Dallas Cowboy fan.
He was an active member of the St. John Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Dr. Bernie H. Manning; Ben was a faithful servant for the Lord, served with the Couples Ministry, and always ready for a Men's Ministry fishing trip.
Ben leaves to cherish, his loving wife, Tanya Kama; three sons: Tristan Hammond (wife, Ivy) of Reading; Jonathan Lebo, Allentown, Pa.; Antonio Lebo (wife, Maritza) Middletown, Pa.; two sisters, Patricia Smith, Karen Kama, both of Reading, Pa.; two step-sisters, Cynthia Smith (husband, Jerome) Winston-Salem, N.C., Chevonne (Kama) Hawkins Phoenix, Arizona; one step-brother, Kevin Petree, Winston-Salem, N.C.; six grandchildren: Genesis, Makayla, Zayna, Patricia, Tre and Antonio. Sisters-in-law, Maxine Smith (husband, William), Karen Bowers (husband, James); one brother-in-law, William Hammond; special niece, Shelly Smith; godchildren: Cherelle, Ashley, Cachet, Essence and Zaiarah; a host of nieces, nephews and many friends.
Funeral Service will be Saturday, December 17, 2016 at the St. John Missionary Baptist Church, 436 South Street, Reading, Pa. Viewing 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Service at 10:00 a.m. Burial to follow in Berks County Memorial Gardens.
Please remember Benjamin by wearing blue, his favorite color, to the service.
