Betty Ann Rohrbach, 88, a beloved matriarch, passed away at 12:30 a.m. on March 12, 2025, at Chester County Hospital, under the compassionate care of Penn Medicine Hospice. Born in Reading, PA, on August 2,1936, she was a daughter to the late John W. Eidam and Florence I. (Seidel) Eidam. In addition to her parents, Betty was welcomed into heaven by her beloved husband, Howard M. Rohrbach, who preceded her in death on May 28, 1973. After his passing, she chose not to remarry, cherishing the love they shared throughout her life. Betty was also greeted in heaven by her brother and five sisters.
Betty was a proud graduate of Reading High School, Class of 1953. Over the years, she embraced a variety of roles, including working as a CenTran (Central Transport Worker) at Reading Hospital and later in retail sales at Hallmark Crown Shop and Whitners Department Store.
One thing that defined Betty was her deep respect and admiration for the military. Her kindness and nurturing spirit earned her the affectionate nickname of "Mama Marine"—a title she wore with pride. For 25 years, she worked alongside her son at their business, PSFSD Inc., supporting our troops and contributing to the cause in her own unique way.
Those who knew Betty knew that Christmas wasn’t just a holiday for her—it was a way of life. Her love for the season was legendary, and her baking skills, particularly her cookies, were nothing short of magical.
Betty leaves behind a family who will forever cherish her memory: her daughter, Cheryl Esterly (Warren); her daughter, Elaine Keene (Rick); and her son, Howard (Tracey). She is also survived by her beloved granddaughter, Katie Blankenfeld (James), and her great-granddaughter, Brie Blankenfeld.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Bausman Memorial UCC,1064 Penn Ave., Wyomissing, PA 19610 on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Joseph Motz officiating. Graveside committal will immediately follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park,390 West Neversink Rd., Reading, PA 19606.
The family warmly encourages all who attend to channel their inner holiday spirit in honor of Betty’s love for Christmas—whether it’s a festive sweater, a sprinkle of tinsel, or anything that would make Santa proud!
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions in Betty’s memory be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011, to help support the fight against Alzheimer’s and Dementia.
