He was born in Cayey, Puerto Rico on February 1, 1947 a son of the late Juan Matos and Fermina Cruz. He was employed by Luden's Candy then Hershey for over 40 years retiring in 2007. Candelario was the domino champion of his family and was a comical guy, always laughing and joking. He was a softball coach for the Reading Torpedos and a Pastor for many years at Reading Spanish Mennonite Church.
Also surviving are his children, Luisa E Santiago and her husband Jose Santiago, Jr, Fermin and his wife Diana Matos, Pablo and his wife Carmen Matos, Dominga E Pedraza and her husband Esteban Pedraza Jr, 2 daughter-in-law's, Jamie Matos and Monica Matos his sister, Modesta Ocasio, 22 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren.
Candelario was predeceased by his 2 sons, Candelario Matos, Jr and Daniel Matos, grandson, Esteban Pedraza, Jr, and siblings, Juan Navarro, Mersede Nararro, Esteban Matos, Gabriel Matos, Monces DeJesus, and Carmen Ramos.
A viewing for Candelario will be Monday, May 19, 2025 from 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM and Tuesday, May 20, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM, 247 Penn St, Reading, PA 19601. A Celebration of Life Service will be Monday, May 19, 2025 at 7:00 PM in the funeral home. Burial will be Tuesday in Berks County Memorial Gardens.
