It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our dear mother Chiaki (Mikura) Giles at the age of 92. She passed at home under the care of Caring Hospice and her loving family. She was the wife of the late Thomas Giles who passed away in October 2011, at which time they had shared almost 60 years of marriage.
Born on May 3, 1932, in Tokyo, Japan, she was the daughter of the late Hiroshi & Chizuko Mikura of Tokyo. Chiaki, also known as Mickey, was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother & aunt to many!
She was employed most of her life in retail, spending many years with Whitner's as a salesclerk & seamstress. She also loved her wine and enjoying happy hour with her many friends at the former Hitching Post Restaurant.
She is survived by her son Steven Giles, partner of Joanna Banks of Muhlenberg Township, Jennifer Bova, wife of Troy of Laureldale and Christina Krug, wife of Michael of Greenfields. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Brandon Krug, Michael Krug, fiancé of Nicole, Justin Work, husband of Melissa and Rachel Beisel, wife of Steven. She also leaves behind her 7 great grandchildren, Keegan & Kullen Work; Fletcher, Peyton & Harlyn Krug; and Lane & Mikora Beisel, who all were the light of her life! She will be dearly missed by all!
Chiaki alos is survived by her sister, brother and many nieces and nephews in Japan. She was preceded in death by three sisters and a brother.
We would like to thank the staff of Caring Hospice, especially her nurse Andrew and aide Kate, for all their love & support.
