Daniel Sean Monaghan, aged 68, passed away on June 22, 2024, at his home in Reading, Pennsylvania, surrounded by his family. Born on July 29, 1955, in Honesdale, Pennsylvania, Daniel dedicated 35 years of his life to the noble profession of nursing, working at multiple hospitals across the country, including Reading Hospital and St. Joseph Medical Center.
A graduate of Wallenpaupack Area High School, Daniel pursued higher education at Reading Area Community College and Gwynedd Mercy University, where he honed the skills that would define his compassionate career. Known for his kindness and dedication, Daniel left a lasting impact on countless lives through his commitment to healthcare.
Daniel is survived by his brother, Robert Monaghan husband to Linda; his daughter, LeeAnn (Monaghan) Sauls wife to Andrew; his son, Patrick Monaghan, husband to Courtney Webster-Monaghan; his daughter, Shauna (Monaghan) Bittinger; his niece Samantha Monaghan; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father Robert Monaghan, his mother Mary Jane Monaghan, and his brothers James and Richard Monaghan.
Daniel's life was marked by his unwavering care for others, both in his professional and personal life. His legacy will continue to be felt by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Daniel's name to Tower Health Reading Hospital Volunteer Services and/ or Penn State Health St. Joseph's Medical Centers Medical's Volunteer Services. Daniel believed that the smallest forms of comfort could heal the patient and their family's soul.
