Harold "Harry" Phillip Wadsley, 86, of Reading, PA entered eternal rest on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at a Muhlenberg nursing home. Born on November 24, 1938, in West Reading, PA, he was a son to the late Charles Muffet Wadsley and Jesse (White) Wadsley. In addition to his parents, Harry was preceded in death by his 4 siblings.
A proud U.S. Marine veteran, Harry carried his discipline and work ethic into his career as a carpet installer. For over 45 years, he worked at Reading Rug, measuring, cutting, and installing carpet in countless homes, until his well deserved retirement.
But more than just a hardworking man, Harry was a dedicated family man, a homebody who loved tinkering around the house, and a lifelong learner who never hesitated to pick up a book whenever he wanted to learn something new. One of Harry’s greatest loves (besides his family, of course) was his dogs, especially his beloved boxers. He had a soft spot for their loyalty and goofy personalities.
Harry was a spitfire, a great father and provider, a man who believed in standing strong, and putting family first. His son Michael often said that being adopted by Harry and Jean truly saved his life—an impact that speaks volumes about the man he was.
Harry and his beloved wife, Jean E. (Schmale) Wadsley, were married on June 6, a union that lasted an incredible 66 years. Their love story was one of mutual respect, and humor —a bond that only grew stronger with time. Together, they created a beautiful life and a family full of memories.
Harry's spirit will be carried on by his wife, Jean; his son Michael Wadsley and his wife Maryanne; and his daughter Wendy Grabowski and her husband Gregg. His grandchildren, including Seth and Kayla, along with many others, will continue to cherish his memory and the stories he left behind.
Though he has left this world, Harry’s life was one well-lived. He will be fondly remembered as a husband, a father, a grandfather, a Marine, and a man who lived life on his own terms, with a little bit of stubbornness and a whole lot of heart. Rest in eternal peace, dear Harry.
