Harry W. Zimmerman, 93, New Holland, PA, passed from this life to the next on June 22, 2024, at Garden Spot Village. Born in Reading PA to the late Harry S. Zimmerman and Evelyn (Waid) Zimmerman. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Beverly (Richards) Zimmerman.
He was a 1948 graduate of Reading High School and furthered his education at Wyomissing Polytechnic Institute. An Army veteran, Harry served in Germany before embarking on a distinguished career. He worked as a draftsman, toolmaker, and eventually a supervisor of design and drafting at New Holland Machine Company.
Harry had many interests including: golf, bowling, basketball, and was a cross-country runner in high school. His fascination with railroads and Ford Model A cars, lead to active memberships in the Hershey Antique Car Club, the Model "A" Ford Club, and the Reading Society of Model Engineers. In his personal workshop, his ingenuity shone brightly. He had a remarkable talent for creating and repairing models; when there was a repair to be done he had fun deciding the art of "fixing it". His greatest joy, however, was in helping others. His loyalty to family and friends was unmatched, and was known for his friendly demeanor.
A private service will be held at a later date to honor his memory.
