My mother was caring in her own way, expressing her love uniquely and sincerely. As a single mother, she did what she could with what she knew, using her limited resources to ensure we survived and had what we needed. Her strength and quiet sacrifices reflected a deep love that was not always spoken, but always felt.

Rest in peace grandma. I remember how you used to give me pocket change to buy candy from the corner store when I was little anytime I asked. Just a part of the memories that made up my childhood with you. You will be missed greatly by our family.

Mama, I will always cherish the moments we shared, even in my shyness. I remember the days when I was little, and you would sew my uniform shirts with such care—every stitch a reflection of your kindness. I remember stopping by, and you would always try to talk to me, offering warmth and conversation, even when I could only shyly respond.

I wanted so much to visit you, to see you again, but work kept me away. And though I could not be there for your funeral, my heart was there, filled with gratitude for the love and acceptance you showed me. You were not just a mother to your own children; you were a mother to many, including me.

I will forever miss you, Mama, and I will always be thankful for the love and kindness you shared with me. Rest in peace.

We grew up around you, and you grew up around us. Mama, Aunt Hazel Miss Hazel, Sister Anderson—you were a mother to many, always opening your heart and home to those in need. No matter how small, you always found a way to give, offering food to anyone who came by, sharing what you had with kindness and love. As a seamstress, you stitched not only uniforms but also memories, working tirelessly even when payments never fully came. You ran the “partner”, helping families save and support each other, and through it all, you remained a pillar in the community.

Everyone at Yallahs Secondary School knew you, appreciated you, and loved you. Your presence was felt, and your kindness was never forgotten. The community honored you with a memorial service at your home, a true testament to the impact you had on so many lives.

No one is perfect, but the people of Yallahs, our little district, know this much—you were a good mother. You raised your children with strength and love, and the community holds deep respect for the life you lived and the care you showed. We will always cherish you, honor your memory, and carry forward the love you so freely gave.

Your sweet laughter which you always do. I remember the time when I told you I was pregnant . All you said was yes and you supported me all the way. Then came my one son. "Marlon". Who became Winsome ' s baby.Then Leleith's. You will be forever in my heart.Miss you so much. No one can replace you.  I know you loved me too. Keep on Resting in God's Arms.

On behalf of my family and from the depths of my heart, I want to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who attended my mother’s wake, funeral, and repass, and to those who offered their support during this difficult time. Your presence, kind words, prayers, and gestures of love have meant more than I can ever say. In moments of grief, it is the warmth and compassion of friends and family that bring comfort and strength. Thank you for honoring my mother’s life and for standing with us in love and support. Today, as l reflected on who was my mother, Hazel Anderson?
    As a person, she was kind, forgiving, always ready to help others more disadvantaged than herself. 
    As a mother-She loves children dearly. She was always feeding, giving firm but gentle advice or admonition to her own children, and the many children who often congregated at her humble and welcoming yard. 
   As a lady, she was soft spoken and carried herself with grace and dignity, of which many admired, and her daughters aptly imitate. She was an impeccable dresser of which I, personally truly loved, and imitated. Of course, she made clothes and so do l.💕
   With a heart full of kindness, compassion, and generosity, Mother touched countless lives, inspiring us with her strength, resilience, and unwavering optimism. She was beloved by both young and old, as she always has a kind word of encouragement for others, as she sympathizes with their struggles and whenever she could lend an helping hand.
   Throughout her 95 years of life, Mother demonstrated remarkable courage, perseverance, and determination of which l 
am forever grateful, as it stabilized our family life and helped us to strive and  imitate. 
   One of her most valuable attributes, of which l admired greatly and definitely copied from her- is her ability to be contented, and her thriftiness…she is the master of this trait.
    “Sleep on dear mother. Your love, your words of wisdom, and memory will forever be etched in our hearts."

A Good Mother:

A good mother is a guiding light, a steady presence in both calm and stormy times. She nurtures with love, teaches with wisdom, and gives selflessly, never asking for anything in return. She is strength wrapped in tenderness, a safe place to land, and a source of unwavering support. Her love is felt in the smallest gestures—a warm meal, a gentle word, a reassuring touch. Even when she is no longer by our side, her lessons, love, and laughter live on in our hearts, shaping us forever.

Mama, Aunt Hazel, Miss Hazel, Sister Anderson—that is who you are. A woman of love, wisdom, and kindness, leaving behind a legacy that will never fade. I am forever grateful for the love you gave so freely.
