Jeff and I were good friends ever since our dads played on the same volleyball team.  Gene would set the ball and my dad would spike it.  Jeff and I pretended to do the same, but never managed to hit the ball in the right place.  I will always remember Jeff for giving me my pet garter snake Norman.  Though my college roommate was not pleased by this gift, Jeff and I knew he was the perfect pet.   
   Jeff was a good friend and a good person.   
He will be missed.

      Sholly was always  a hard worker and a friendly guy. I had the pleasure of meeting him at The home of the Bortz family   
       I fondly remember our great talks at the end of the day in the Bortz kitchen w/  myself  and Dana   I miss those days

In 1963 my parents dragged me & my siblings away from children's heaven (Pennside) & moved us to Siberia (Jacksonwald).  It was the 3rd time in 5 years I lost all my friends &had to start over.  Little did I know 4 houses away in Jacksonwald a precocious 9 year awaited me. His name was Jeff Shollenberger.  He & I became fast friends, inseparable for 2 or 3 yrs.  He introduced me to everyone in Jacksonwald that mattered for a new 11 year old.  He was the  9 year old "Mayor" of Jacksonwald.  He knew everyone, & through his introductions I soon knew the Bixlers, the Hiesters, the Crosleys, the Nowatarskis, the Pizzutos, the Deppens, & others.  We played sports. We played in the 140 acres of woods & fields. The Shollenbergers & Kearneys became very close neighbors.  Jeff and his family took me on vacations in Ventnor & to company picnics at Hershey Park.  Jeff was smart, friendly, sociable, & kind.  He made me forget Pennside, which was a big accomplishment and he taught me that Jacksonwald wasn't Siberia, but rather a Pennsylvania paradise of sorts. Jeff you were the best.
