Joan LaRue Shotz

Joan L. (Hassler) Shotz, 83, passed away Sunday, November 15th in the Lutheran Home of Topton where she resided since September 4th. She was predeceased by her husband, William G. Shotz who died February 27, 2003.

Born in Reading, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of William Hassler and Dorothy M. Neiman.

Joan worked as a Special Education Aide for the Berks County Intermediate Unit for over 20 years.

She is survived by three daughters: Vicky L, wife of John McClure, Mt. Airy, MD, Deborah L., wife of Walter Strohmayr, Wyomissing Hills , PA, Darryl A., wife of Daniel Fitzgerald, Montclair, VA.

She is also survived by beloved granddaughters Wendy Watson, Denise Strohmayr, Shannon Strohmayr, Whitney Strohmayr, Deidre Fitzgerald, and Kelsey Fitzgerald and great-grandchildren Caedon, Maximilian, Morgan, Wyatt, Avery, Brody and Grace.

Memorial services will be held at Friday, November 20th at Auman Funeral Home, 390 W. Neversink Road, Reading at noon. Family will receive friends 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Interment at Berks County Memorial Gardens will be private.
