Joseph "Pappy" Pinder, 97, of Birdsboro, PA passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at Reading Hospital - Tower Health. Born February 15, 1925 in Stowe, PA he was the only son to the late Anna (Betz) Pinder and Stephen Pinder.
Joseph proudly served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army, where he earned several medals including but not limited to: The Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, European–African–Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, Victory Medal, Meritorious Service Unit award and the Philippine Liberation ribbon with 1 bronze star. After the war ended, he returned to civilian life, where he worked at Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. for 35 years, until his retirement. Although, he never really retired until into his late 80s.
Joseph was not only an independent, strong-willed man with a strong work ethic, but he was someone who would help anyone in need. He was great at building things and could rig anything to work with what he had handy; so much so that his daughter dubbed him a real life 'Rube Goldberg'. Joseph loved sharing his WWII experiences/ knowledge, a cold beer, wood carving, fishing, the outdoors and animals of all kinds. He will be sorely missed by all blessed enough to have known him.
Joseph's spirit will be carried on by his daughter Christine Frain and her husband Scott, of Boyertown; his 2 sons Mark Pinder and his wife Patricia, of Phoenixville, Christopher Pinder, of Birdsboro and his sister Joann Tarczynski and her husband Joseph, of Boyertown. Joseph also leaves behind 3 granddaughters and 1 great grandson to cherish his memory. In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his wife Ruth S. (Groover) Pinder and his son David Pinder.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the staff of Auman's Inc. Funeral Home, Reiffton. A graveside committal with military honors for Joseph will be held Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Limerick Garden of Memories, 44 Swamp Pike, Limerick, PA 19468. A celebration of Joseph's life will be scheduled at a later date. To honor his legacy, Joseph would probably love for you to drink a beer in his memory, preferably a Yuengling.
