He was born in Aibonito, Puerto Rico, on March 9, 1936, a son of the late Felix and Modesta (Colon) Esparra.
He was an Army veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict receiving the Army of Occupation Medal.
Juan was employed by Car Tech as a metallurgist for 24 years, retiring in 1998.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by his children: Felix, and his wife, Kim, Esparra, of Ohio; Judith M. and her husband, Carlos Lopez, of Brecknock Township; Edwin, and his wife, Anne, Esparra of Mechanicsburg; Ramon, and his wife, Jane, Esparra of Ga.; daughter-in-law, Betty Esparra, of Sinking Spring; 5 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. There are 3 sister and 7 brothers. Juan was predeceased by his son, Pedro Esparra.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be Friday, December 30, 2016 6-8 p.m. in Theo C. Auman Funeral Home, 247 Penn St., Reading.
