Lewis Jordan Thomas

He was the loving husband of Patricia Ann (Finn) Thomas. The couple married in St. Cyril's in Philadelphia on May 9, 1953. They celebrated 63 years of marriage. Born in Reading on Sept. 2, 1932, Lew was a son of the late Edward and Angeline (Jordan) Thomas.

Lew was an entertainer and was a singer for 23 years with Sugar & Spice. He was also a bartender at several bars in Reading and often times worked along with his sons in construction.

Lew liked to tell jokes because he enjoyed making people smile. Everybody enjoyed being around him. Entertaining was his passion and he really loved to sing. Above all, spending time with his family was his favorite thing to do. He will be missed.

In addition to his wife, Pat, Lew is survived by five children: Kathleen Marie (Thomas) Oplinger and her husband, Randall Fryberger, of Mohnton; Edward Farrell Thomas and his wife, Susan (Wagner), of Sinking Spring; Michael Lewis Thomas, of Reading; Robert David Thomas and his wife, Gina (Sabatucci), of West Lawn; and Patricia Ann (Thomas) Morales, of Reading; eight grandchildren: Michelle, Amy, Laurel, Anthony, Jordan, Audra, Gabriel and Julian; and three great-grandchildren: Thomas, Mena and Emma.

Also surviving are four brothers: Edward Thomas and his wife, Dorothy, George Thomas and his wife, Patricia, Henry Thomas and his wife, Wynne, and William Thomas and his wife, Anne; two sisters, Carol (Thomas) McVoy and Maryann (Thomas) Haugh and her husband, John; nieces, nephews and cousins who all loved Uncle Lew.

He is predeceased by three brothers: Charles, Michael and Joseph Thomas, and five sisters: Josephine (Thomas) Killian, Louise (Thomas) Killian, Francis (Thomas) Vicari, Lucille (Thomas) Reber and Angeline (Thomas) DeCisco.

A memorial service for Lew will be at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, December 28, 2016, in Theo C. Auman Funeral Home, 247 Penn St., Reading, Pa. 19601. Family and friends are gathering at the funeral home Wednesday from 11 to 12 p.m.

Lew and his family donated their time to the American Cancer Society and suggest memorial contributions be made there at American Cancer Society , Relay-For-Life, 498 E. Bellevue Ave., Reading, Pa. 19605.
