

Born in Norristown on February 23, 1964, he was the son of Joseph Louis, Sr. and Marsha L. (Herbert) Rhoades. Marshall was baptized in Antioch Baptist Church in North Hills and was a member of Bethel AME in Reading. He was a 1982 Abington High School graduate where he was a District Champ with the basketball team. He attended Gloucester Co. Community College from 1982 to 1983 before transferring to Norfolk State University and attending until 1984.
He was employed with Sealed Air as a packer in Muhlenberg. Marshall loved sports and was the head coach of Muhlenberg Knee High basketball team in 2012. He was also huge fan of the Houston Texans. He made everybody laugh and was the life of the party. Family and friends were very important to him.
Left behind to cherish his memory is his wife, Gloria Ann (White) Rhoades of Reading; two sons: Monte’ W. Smith of North Hills and A’mari J. Rhoades at home; two step daughters: Andreiana L. and Aleea D. White at home; two brothers: Joseph L. Rhoades and his wife, Joy Lynn, Robert T. Rhoades and his wife, Damita J. and a sister: J. Stacy Rhoades.
Also surviving are his mother-in-law: Bertha L. (Rauch) White; six brothers-in law: James Rauch, Jr. and his wife, Lorraine, David G. Rauch and his wife, Deania, Willie G. Rauch, Phillip J. White and his wife, Nellie, Edward White and his wife, T’Andrea and Clarence Ricks; four sisters-in-law: Barbara J. Ricks, Eleanor Logan, Debra A. Lindsey and Margarite Jefferson; three uncles: Thomas L. Rhoades, Robert J. Herbert and Marshall Wallace ; three great aunt: Olive K. Banks, Louise Holmes and Helen Rhoades and a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins and special friends.
He is predeceased by a great grandfather: Rev. Marshall W. Lee, founder and pastor of St. Paul’s Baptist in Conshohocken.
A viewing for Marshall will at 10am on Friday, December 20, 2013 in Bethel AME, 330 W. Windsor St., Reading, PA 19601. The funeral service will be at 11:00am on Friday, in the church. Burial will be in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Fleetwood.
