Marvin Lynwood Jones

Born in Reading, he was the son of late Jack Wall and Dorothy M. Jones.

Marvin is survived by his half-siblings: Jay Wall, Bobby Wall, Yvonne Wall and Jacqueline Wall-Nealy. He was preceded in death by his half-sister, Michelle Wall.

In addition to his siblings, Marvin is survived by his children: Diana, wife of David Shefton, Reading; Sandra, Reading; Marvin Jr., husband of Julie Jones, Erie, Pa.; Celisa, wife of Acquano Bey, Reading; Clifford, husband of Carla Speaks; Amelia, Acworth, Ga.; Cary, Reading; and Edward, Reading.

Marvin is also survived by his grandchildren: Ryan, Delores, Daniel, Christopher, Michael, Jarred, Channay, Lynell, Alyssa, Javon, Tazshai, Isiah, Kyeshia, Cary Jr., Makiah, Sadie, Keiran.

He was preceded in death by his grandson, Dominic.

He is also survived by his 12 great-grandchildren. Marvin also leaves a host of cousins, in-laws, friends, and family to cherish his memory.

Marvin was educated in the Reading School District and was an all-star football player both in Junior and Senior High School. Marvin joined the U.S. Army in 1960 and left for Korea in April 1962. Marvin left Active Duty in 1977. Marvin also served time in the Army Reserves before being honorably discharged in 1983.

Marvin was previously employed with Carpenter Technology, working with them for 20 years before retiring in 1988.

Marvin loved to cook and started a small business named Marv & Sons, where he traveled around the city in his Food Truck. He was known for his breakfast omelets, Philly Steaks and Friday Special Steak Dinners. Marvin, affectionately known as "Tookie," enjoyed photography, fishing, boxing and cooking. His passion, though, was his music and his record collection. His favorite groups included the Temptations and the O'Jays but he loved Jazz and would spend hours listening to his music or singing to his favorite oldies.

Services will be Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at 4 p.m. in Theo C. Auman Funeral Home, 247 Penn St., Reading, with a viewing from 3-4 p.m.
