

He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Lynda A. (Smith) Lightfoot, of Reading; his son, Shaunatai (Shaun) L. Richardson and wife, Tonika, of Reading, Shaun's mother, Joan Richardson, of Reading. His twin sons, (the cats), Earl and Merle Lightfoot. of Reading. Michael has five brothers: Robbie Saunders, of Richmond, Va.; Charlie Tally, of Richmond, Va.; Dondie Saunders, of Richmond, Va., Bernardo Coles, of Richmond, Va., and Alvin Saunders, of Richmond, Va. Michael is also survived by his three sisters: Alice (Lightfoot) Lea, of Reading; Sheila Tally, of Richmond, Va.; Lucille Miles, of Richmond, Va.; his biological mother, Barbara Saunders, of Richmond, Va., and four grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his mother, Irene (Booker) Lightfoot; father, Joseph Saunders; aunt, Dorothy Shorter; and brothers, Dino Saunders and Joseph (Junie) Harris.
Michael enjoyed going to Philadelphia each week shopping, He loved spending time with his grandson, DeShaun (Lil Junie) Richardson. Looking your best was very important to him. He loved watching all sports, spending time with family, friends and his cats.
He was last employed at Akzo Nobel in Reading, where he had been for 2 years. Michael volunteered at Reform Church and Ministry Center on Centre Avenue each month with their food bank program. Michael and his wife enjoyed volunteering at Opportunity House every other month serving food and praying with the people. The Lightfoots also spent 5 years delivering food for Meals on Wheels program.
Michael loved people and they were drawn to him. He also saw the best in people and had a great sense of humor.
Spirituality was very important to Michael. He accepted Christ as his personal Savior and was baptized in 2012. He was a member of Reform Church Ministry Center in Reading. The message that he wants everyone to remember from him is: "It doesn't matter where or how you start. What matters is how you finish. God can use anyone."
A service will be Wednesday, December 20, 2017, at 11 a.m. in Theo C Auman Funeral Home, 247 Penn St., Reading.
A viewing will be Wednesday 10-11 a.m. in the funeral home.
