

Raymond "Ray" Christopher Koehler, former journalist with the Reading Eagle Company, 89, formerly of Exeter Twp., passed away in his home at Mifflin Court, Shillington. He was the husband of the late Fern L. (Brown) Koehler. Sadly, Fern passed away in 2009.
Born in Allentown on May 31, 1928, he was the only child of the late Christopher and Margaret (Thoma) Koehler. He was a Wilson High School graduate, class of 1946. In 1951, he graduated from Penn State University and then received his post-graduate degree from Columbia University.
Ray served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and received a Bronze Star. He was a member of Pennside Presbyterian Church. Ray joined the Reading Times as a reporter, columnist and feature writer and retired in 1993.
Surviving are two daughters, Beth Ann (Koehler) Miller and her husband, Robert, of West Lawn, and Faith Louise (Koehler) Lutz and her husband, Gary, of Reading; four grandchildren: Lauren Koehler, Cody Lutz, Jason Miller and Paul Miller; and a great-grandson, Jayden Ray Koehler.
Services for Ray will be at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, February 9, 2018, in Theo C. Auman Funeral Home, 247 Penn St., Reading, PA 19601. Burial will follow services in Charles Evans Cemetery, Reading.
Family and friends will be received for a viewing in the funeral home on Friday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
