Your Dad was my mentor when I applied to become a Penn State Master Gardener...1997...and I made it.  I have a gardening Christmas card that he send me that year...I put it out as a decoration every year.  Please accept my condolences.

Dear Beth and Faith, please accept our most sincere condolences for the loss of your father (my Uncle Ray) he was an amazing person and a favorite uncle of mine and I know we will all miss him.  I have fond memories of growing up and spending a lot of time with your mom and dad.  Uncle Ray took me under his wings and taught me how to play golf.  I will never forget the times we spent together on the  many golf courses around Reading. We had great times having cookouts at your house and I distinctly remember the time our son Michael took his first steps at your house while we were there visiting. It is with great sadness that we learned of Ray's passing from my sister Heather who worked at Mifflin Court. My son Andrew and I met Ray about 3 years ago while celebrating Veteran's Day with the seniors so I could teach my son the importance of showing honor and respect; we enjoyed it so much that it has now become our yearly tradition. Very quickly we became fond of Ray and his quirky sense of humor. We enjoyed visiting with him over the last few years and Andrew loved when he and the Mifflin Court crew came to our house on the bus on their weekly Sunday outings. We also enjoyed playing games with him during their recreational gatherings in the morning. We enjoyed spending the Halloween celebrations with him, especially this year when he gave no candy to the other kids, but instead dumped his entire bucket in my son's bag. We will certainly miss Ray! We send our prayers to your entire family and we will remember and honor Ray each year on Veteran's Day. Respectfully, Wendy, Tim & Andrew McNatt

Very fond memories of Ray while working together as Master Gardeners for Berks County.  Always a smile,kind words and pleasant conversation with Ray. I was saddened when he left our gardening group some years ago And now even more so knowing he's left this world. Sincere condolences to his family and friends. He was a gem.

Condolences, prayers and hugs go out to my family at the passing of their father, grandfather and my  "Uncle Ray". I have many wonderful memories growing up with my cousins and Uncle Ray and Aunt Fern. They were such a large part of my childhood and he will be missed. May his Memory be Eternal!

I have many memories of Uncle Ray.  We played a lot of golf together, shot pool and played table tennis at my grandfather's house.  We had a lot of fun going to Reading High Basketball games and the playoffs.  He was very passionate about Reading High Basketball and the many years of success the program had.  We also spent time talking about Penn State and its football team.  When I was about 8 years old Uncle Ray and Aunt Fern took me to see the Pinocchio move in the theater.  He is going to be missed more than you know.  I have many great memories of him. To Beth and Faith, we send our deepest sympathy and love to you and your families for your loss!  Our thoughts and prayers will be with you.  I have a 7 day vigil light lit for him on the Holy Altar.

Ray,"Ace" was a regular guy who shared stories at Wellers luncheonette in West Wyomissing.  Those were the cherished days of yore that the rest of Ace's friends will remember.
