Richard L Shaffer

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis L. (Ratajczak) Shaffer.

He was born in Reading on February 21, 1952, a son of the late John E. Shaffer Sr. and Emma C. Rogers.

Shakey served in the U.S. Navy during peacetime and was a member of Stony Creek AA, Lower Alsace, and Gibralter Fire Companies.

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by his 2 daughters: Kelly Jo, wife of Daniel Daigle, of Exeter Township, and Jessica, wife of Jeffrey Kupp, of Gibraltar; his 3 brothers: Elwood D., husband of Darlene (Stech) Shaffer; David J., husband of Cheryl (Donahue) Shaffer, and John E. Jr., husband of Susan (McMichael) Shaffer, all of Reading; one sister, Nancy Ann (Shaffer), wife of Donald Pezzino, also of Reading; one half sister Fern V. (Shaffer), widow of Morris Baus, of Boyertown.

There are 5 granddaughters: Camie Daigle, Carrie Daigle, Courtney Kupp, Kiley Kupp, and Kaylee Kupp.

Shakey was predeceased by his half brothers John Shaffer and Donald Shaffer. And also by his faithful companion, his dog, Ruby.

The family wants a special thank you to The Oncology Department at St. Joseph Hospital.
