Born in Reading on February 22, 1939, Bob was a son of the late Robert Elwood, Sr. and Lola (Hartenstine) Shingle.
Bob was last employed for several years as a security guard at Jimmie Kramer's Peanut Bar, downtown. Prior to that, he owned and operated his own bar on 11th St. and Cotton St. called Bob Shingle's Café.
Bob was a very talented bass guitar player and played with several local bands. He also played backing bass for some celebrities like Frankie Valle.
Surviving Bob is his brother, Terry Shingle; Terry's wife that Bob considered a sister, Jessie (Belk) Shingle; a niece, Jennifer Soto; two nephews, Gary Bobst and Gary Belk; a brother-in-law, Bill Belk and his loving cat, Julius.
Bob is predeceased by his parents; a sister, Carol A. (Shingle) King and his cat, Buddy.
In Bob's style, he chose not to have a funeral but rather, just a viewing. The viewing will be from 10am to 12pm on Thursday, November 30, 2017 in Theo C. Auman Funeral Home, 247 Penn St., Reading, PA 19601. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reading.
