

Born in Maryville, Tennessee he was a son of the late Samuel Franklin and Mary Olive (Paul) Prater. Ray was employed as an Ironworker with Local #36, Allentown.
Ray proudly served his country in the U.S. Army in the 38th Engineer Company, 7th Corp in West Germany. Ray earned the Good Conduct and Expert M-14 Rifle Medals.
Ray was an avid lifetime golfer, having won the Lehigh Valley Amateur Tournament in 2012. Ray loved his Labrador dogs.
Survivors: In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons: Jeffrey Ray Prater and wife Margaret of Manassas, Virginia and Jonathan David Prater of Montgomery Center, Vermont. He is also survived by his granddaughter, Lydia Riann Prater. Ray was predeceased by a son, Joseph Michael Prater.
Services: A Memorial Service for Ray will be held in Asbury United Methodist Church, 1533 Springhouse Road, Allentown, Pa. 18104 on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 11:00 am. Interment will follow.
