She was born June 3, 1948, in Reading, the daughter of the late Robert and Florence Millie (Epler) Ray.
She is survived by her longtime companion, Edward Gust, and her two children, Heather (Smith) Layser and her husband, Jared; and Craig Smith. Sylvia is also survived by her three grandchildren, Carlos Rivera, Sergio Rivera and Robert McMullen; and her two great-grandchildren, Javian Rivera and Delilah Rivera. She is also survived by her brother, Thomas Ray.
