Charles “Chuck” Lyon passed away on Saturday, March 1st, 2014. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Melody, and four children from his previous marriage; three Sons, Ed of New York, Randall of Georgia, Pete of Redding and one daughter, Karlene of Redding; two step daughters, Jeanne and Tia, both from Anderson. He has eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
His life began on October 6th in Indianapolis; his father was then offered a job with NASA in Los Angeles which is where he lived before going into the service. He served eight years in the service and then moved to Oregon where he met his first wife and had a family, they moved to the Redding in the 1950’s. After the passing of his wife, he then met and married his present wife of 27 years and was surrounded by family that respected and loved him. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Chuck was a veteran, having served in the US Army, Navy and Air Force. He was a millwright and electrician for Champion International, Sierra Pacific, Roseburg Lumber Co., then later for Calaveras Cement Co. He then retired 14 years ago.
Besides his professional side, Chuck was also an avid story teller and would tell stories to all who would listen (several times), camper, hunter, and fisherman, captain of his boat, dancer, card player and water skipper at times. He was so many things, but mostly he was our Chuck! After many years of living with rheumatoid arthritis, he is no longer in pain and is now walking with our Lord. Until we meet again my friend…
A Memorial Chapel Service will be held at Northern California Veterans Cemetery, 11800 Gas Point Rd, Igo, CA on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at 2:00 PM.
