Effie Margaret Keys

Of Fall River Mills was released from the bonds of this world to be in glory on February 11, 2013. She was 78 years old.

Effie Margaret was born to the late Issaac Edward and Ethel Carroll on a farm near Posey in Lubbock County, Texas, on September 3, 1934. Suffering hard times, the family moved to Southern California in 1939 where work was available.

She attended Narbonne High School in Lomita and just 2 weeks after graduating married her high school sweetheart, Ivan Keys, Jr. in 1952. The couple had three children and bought a home in Buena Park. In 1969 they moved to the Fall River Valley where Ivan became the high school principal. They both soon fell in love with the Valley and the many wonderful folks there who became their friends and associates. Margaret worked for many years as bookkeeper for the Highway Garage in McArthur. She enjoyed jogging in the temperate months and cross-country skiing during winter months. She had great faith in the saving power of the cross through Jesus Christ, and both she and Ivan were longtime members of the Glenburn Community Church.

Besides her Mother and Father, she was also preceded in death by her late husband, Ivan; sisters, Jane Rosmarin and Estella Albright and brother, Ivan Edward (Pete) Carroll.

She is survived by her loving children, Mark Keys of Shasta Lake, Melanie Keys of Redding and Craig Keys of Glenburn and her dear brother, William Carroll of Eugene, Oregon. She will also be missed by her seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at the Glenburn Community Church on March 9, 2013 at 11:00 am.
