Evelyn Lean Norris

Evelyn L. Norris was born to the union of Nathaniel and Rosie Goff on March 28, 1924 in Fastrill, Texas. The family moved to Diboll, Texas where Evelyn and her sisters attended school. Her sisters, Idell, Adell and Odessa preceded her in death.

At an early age, Evelyn received Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. In 1942 Evelyn married Andrew Norris who preceded her in death. She had two children: Betty Lou Scott and Rosie Lee (Judy) Norris (deceased).

In 1946, the family moved to Redding, CA and united with the Second Baptist Church. Evelyn served faithfully and was always busy in God's vineyard.

Evelyn was employed by JC Penney for twenty-five years. After retirement, she volunteered at the Shasta Senior Program where she enjoyed serving others.

Evelyn leaves to cherish her memory, daughter Betty Lou Scott, eight grandchidren: Elizabeth Norris-Baines, Towilla Norris, Kema Norris, Deleon Hawkins, Keith Norris, Shawn Robinson (deceased), Zachary Scott and Zelda Scott. Six great grandchildren: Shaniece Robinson, Amir Muhammad, Kensey Lynn, Samiyah Muhammad, Lania Hawkins and Reece Simpson. Niece: Mildred Smith. Nephews: Roger Goff, Alonzo Goff and Roy Lee Turner and many other relatives and friends.

A visitation was held on Friday, March 25, 2011 from 10am-12pm at Lawncrest Chapel in Redding, CA with a funeral service Friday, March 25, 2011 at 1pm at Lawncrest Chapel. Burial will be held the same day at Lawncrest Memorial Park, Redding, CA.
