

Born: May 6, 1930 to Harry and Elsie McGregor in Medford, OR
Past away peacefully in his sleep on December 18, 2013 at Mercy Medical Center in Redding, CA after a brief illness.
Jim served as senior class president and graduated from Yreka High School in 1949. Jim loved sports, especially basketball and was a well-liked classmate. He earned a scholarship for basketball to San Jose State University.
After attending college, Jim joined the United States Navy. He was stationed at Alameda Air Base where he spent time playing basketball for the Navy.
Jim married Donna Blodgett on June 29, 1963. They both worked for the phone company in Big Bear, CA and San Pablo, Ca before moving to Redding.
Jim is survived by his son, David McGregor of Pinole, Ca daughter Melody McGovern of Redding, two grandchildren: Ashley and Kevin McGovern, and one great-granddaughter, Makyla. He is also survived by his sister, Mary "Venie" Minson of Redding, and his brother, Harry "Bud" McGregor of Levittown, PA., and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Donna, his parents, Harry and Elsie McGregor, and five sisters: Maxine Giordano, Muriel Whittaker, Marion Kruger, Murdith (Huff) McGuire, and Minerva Stockdale.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, January 3rd, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Lawncrest Memorial Park, 1522 E Cypress, Redding, Ca 96002, followed by a Celebration of LIfe "Potluck" luncheon at 3:00 PM at the Anderson VFW Post 9650, located at 3210 West Center St, Anderson, CA 96007
